Betecha/Adisalem Mesele

M.A. Student

My name is Betecha/Adisalem Mesele, and I am a master’s student in the Nonprofit Management program, specializing in social entrepreneurship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem.

Currently, I work as a social worker at Tal Haim School in Kiryat Menachem, Jerusalem, where I focus on children in an educational and therapeutic setting. Over the past two years, I have managed a unique and empowering program for Israeli students of Ethiopian descent at Midreshet Neshamot in Jerusalem. In addition, I serve as a facilitator and lecturer in the Midreshet Masa program, “Awareness. Strength. Identity,” which offers lectures on personal development, awareness, and empowerment.

I immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia in 2011 at the age of eleven and a half. I am one of five children of my parents, Atrasau and Tegaba Mesela.

My master’s thesis examines the relationship between identity, values, and parenting practices among Israeli mothers of Ethiopian descent.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature and at the beach, admiring the landscapes, and taking quiet moments to enjoy a good book. I also value quality time with friends.
