
Shira Amrani
Ph.D. Candidate
Shira Amrani is a Ph.D. student at the School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her doctoral dissertation is jointly supervised by Professor Maya Benish Weisman and Professor Ella Daniel from Tel Aviv University. Her research focuses on the relationship between behavior and values among young adolescents, with particular emphasis on the role of mental state talk and parent-child interactions in this context. Shira graduated with distinction with a B.A. in Psychology and Educational Counseling from Bar Ilan University and earned her M.A. in Social Psychology from Tel Aviv University. Her master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Yaara Yeshurun Dishon, explored “Interpersonal Synchronization in Smiling - The Relationship to Empathy, Affection, and Attraction Depending on Gender.”
Shira is a social psychologist with several years of experience in academic teaching and research. She served as a teaching assistant in the preparatory program at Bar Ilan University, where she taught the course “Introduction to Statistics” in the track dedicated to students aged 30+. In addition, she taught psychology, research methods, and statistics in the track dedicated to disadvantaged populations. She also gained practical experience at the Avigail Institute, where she took part in organizational consulting, development processes, and applied research, and worked as a research assistant in various settings, including the Accord Center at the Hebrew University and the Psychology Clinic at Bar Ilan University.
