We are excited to share that Dr. Reut Nachoum presented her work this month as part of the International Seminar Series on Values Research, led by the Centre for Human and Cultural Values at the University of Western Australia.
Together with our supportive postdoc supervisor, Prof. Maya Benish-Weisman, who opened the session with a fascinating introduction, followed by Dr. Reut’s presentation on mothers' value balance and adolescent adjustment during COVID-19.
A key Takeaway: Across both openness to change and conservation maternal values, we found that extreme levels, either very high or very low, were linked with poorer adjustment, while moderate, balanced maternal value endorsement was associated with better outcomes among adolescents.
A reminder that sometimes, balance may be what supports resilience, especially in times of uncertainty.
A heartfelt thank you to Julie Lee and Joanne Sneddon for the invitation and for creating such a thoughtful and engaging research environment, and to Dr. Moti Benita for his ongoing guidance and support throughout this project. And of course, thank you to all seminar participants for the rich discussion and generous feedback.
Special thanks also to our wonderful lab members, who gathered the day before to hear Dr. Reut’s practice talk in preparation for the presentation.
